6 – First Interactive Prototype and User Testing

The first interactive prototype was built using online prototyping tool, InVision, available at http://www.invisionapp.com.

Four user test participants were chosen for user testing, they were users of both iOS and Android mobile devices. Consent to record was given by each participant at the beginning of the interview.

The participants were asked to perform the following tasks:

  1. Open browser, go to named website, bookmark it.
  2. Close down the browser and retrieve the bookmark from the first task.

6.1.1 User Test Summary & Conclusions

  1. Participant A “half” recognised the bookmark icon, but considered tapping the overflow menu instead, out of habit.
  2. Participant A also stated “Normally when I bookmark it goes to the bottom of a very long list, I liked that my bookmark was immediately visible when I opened the bookmarks”.

6.2 User Test – Participant B

6.2.1 User Test Summary & Conclusions

  1. Participant B thought that remembering the name of the website, six months later could be an issue.
  2. Participant B  wondered why he couldn’t add his own custom tags, or a star rating, at the point when the bookmark was added. The reason for this was some bookmarks, that might share related tags, could be more important to him than others.
  3. Participant B  has separate work and personal bookmarks, both linked to different Google accounts. In a follow-up discussion, he suggested adding the option to allow users switch Google accounts.

6.3 User Test – Participant C

Participant C was able to perform both tasks and remained silent throughout the test, no feedback was given.

6.4 User Test – Participant D

Participant D was able to perform both tasks and remained silent throughout the test, no feedback was given.
